Top 7th: California turns a triple play!
19,270 fans were treated to a fine game at the ballpark as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end. The California Gangsta Luv won by
the slimmest of margins, 7 to 6.
California went ahead for good in the bottom of the 4th inning scoring one
runner utilizing 2 base hits. Burbank had a chance to come back in the 9th
but they came up short.
The victory went to Joel Pineiro(6-4) who went 6 innings, allowing 4 runs.
Mike Wuertz gained credit for his 3rd save. The loss was charged to Jon
Lester(4-4). He allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 11 hits and 3
walks in 7 innings.
Wes Davies was subdued after the ballgame, 'That one really hurts. If our
guys had simply played more fundamentally sound, we could have won that one.
That is what really ticks me off!'
